Where You Were

It's empty where you were
Hidden in the dark
Staring at the stars
Listening to the sounds of a distant train
I think that we often do not know what we have while we have it
Yet I know I knew better than
To take for granted my time with you
From the moment I met you
I knew I was looking into the past
That room where I imagined your arms
Now your hand has left a wound on my face
I feel like a freakish piece of art
Looking back at our time
I can't help but wonder what it meant
And realize it met nothing
Even though to me, you meant everything
